Pokemon GO trade evolutions refer to critters that can be evolved for free once traded with another trainer. Trading is an excellent way to fill the Pokedex, given Niantic's title features quite a few regional exclusives. The added perk of a zero-cost evolution will surely have players trying out a few.

Trade evolutions are one of the many special evolutions in Pokemon GO available to players. We have jotted down all the available trade evolutions below along with a quick recap on how trading works in-game.

The current crop of Pokemon GO trade evolutions is:

Trade EvolutionsCandy Requirement (If not traded)
Boldore evolves into Gigalith200 Candy
Graveler evolves into Golem100 Candy
Gurdurr evolves into Conkeldurr200 Candy
Haunter evolves into Gengar100 Candy
Kadabra evolves into Alakazam100 Candy
Karrablast evolves into Escavalier200 Candy
Machoke evolves into Machamp100 Candy
Phantump evolves into Trevenant200 Candy
Pumpkaboo evolves into Gourgeist200 Candy
Shelmet evolves into Accelgor200 Candy

Given the relatively higher Candy cost of these Pokemon when trainers try to evolve them without trading, we advise taking the easier option as long as another player can be found with the same Pokemon willing to trade.

How to trade in Pokemon GO

Trading in Pokemon requires trainers to be in-game friends, be at a minimum level of 10 accounts, and be in close proximity to each other (about 100m). With these requirements met, both players need to go to their Friends section, select the trainer they want to trade with, and click the Trade option.

Finally, they will have to choose the Pokemon they want to trade and confirm. Note that a Pocket Monster can only be traded once. The combat power of the trader monster will also change while trading; it is a one-time action, so traders must be sure of it.

Trading in Pokemon GO requires Stardust. The amount of Stardust needed is proportional to the rarity of the pocket monster and the friendship level between the two traders. Players can decrease the amount of Stardust needed by increasing their friendship level in Pokemon GO. Also, there is no option to trade mythical pocket monsters yet.
