Is Talonflame with Incinerate worth using in Pokemon GO Battle League?

Yes, Incinerate Talonflame is the way to go in Trainer Battles in Pokemon GO. The creature is viable in both the Great and Ultra League formats of GBL when equipped with this exclusive move.

Incinerate is a five-turn Fire-type Fast Attack. It deals 20 damage (24 with STAB) and generates 20 energy, bringing its DPT and EPT to 4 (4.8 with STAB) and 4, respectively.

Here is a side-by-side comparison of how Talonflame performs in the Ultra League when its exclusive move is equipped versus when it is not:

With one shield active on both sides, Talonflame with Incinerate goes 22-17-1 (W-L-D). With Fire Spin, the number of wins goes down to 15, while Steel Wing pulls it down to 11.

With two shields on each side, the difference is even more drastic, with the Incinerate variant racking up 23 wins compared to Fire Spin and Steel Wing's 14 and 11, respectively. While the numbers improve slightly with no shields in play for the non-legacy moves, Incinerate Talonflame still leads.

Talonflame does best when it has a 2-to-1 shield advantage. The Incinerate variant goes 35-4-1, while the Fire Spin and Steel Wing variants finish at 25-15-0 and 26-13-1, respectively.

Talonflame with Incinerate is ahead of the other variants in 1-0 and 2-0 shield situations as well. For these reasons, Talonflame is one of the best Pocket Monsters to invest your Rare Candy XLs in for the Ultra League, in case you are unable to gather enough Fltchling Candy XL

While the results aren't as impressive in the Great League, owing to Talonflame's more fragile defenses in the 1,500 CP format, the Incinerate variant is the way to go there as well.

Talonflame is not the creature you want as either a Fire-type or Flying-type PvE attacker. Even if you choose to run it as the former, Fire Spin is a better move for Gyms and Raids.
