Is Pokemon GO Mega Mawile Raid Day event ticket worth it?

A Pokemon GO Mega Mawile Raid Day event ticket is available for purchase in the game's shop. While the bonuses it comes with are not bad, is it worth spending the additional $5 (or equivalent regional price) that it costs? Purely based on the value of the items included in the ticket, it is worth purchasing. However, there's a slight caveat.

The Pokemon GO Mega Mawile Raid Day event ticket offers extra Raid Passes and bonus resources but Mega Mawile Raids themselves are a largely unattractive affair. In this article, I will elaborate on why you should purchase the ticket and give you my two cents on how you should use it.

Why you should purchase the Pokemon GO Mega Mawile Raid Day event ticket

The ticket for the Mega Mawile Raid Day event contains the following bonuses:

Eight additional Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs (for a total of 14)
Increased chance to get Rare Candy XL from Raid Battles
50% more XP from Raid Battles
2× Stardust from Raid Battles

The item can be purchased only up to 5 pm local time on October 12, 2024, but the bonuses will remain active until 10 pm local time on the day. Even without the ticket, you can obtain five extra Raid Passes.

All things considered, the ability to participate in 14 raids on the same day for $5 (or equivalent pricing) is a solid deal. While the "increased chance" to get Rare Candy XL is not nearly as attractive as the guaranteed deal that the Mega Lucario Raid Day event promised, it is nothing to shun. Lastly, extra XP and Stardust are always good.

How to make the most out of the Pokemon GO Mega Mawile Raid Day event ticket

To make the most out of your 14 Raid Passes, don't do the Mega Mawile raids—at least don't spend them all on this creature. Unless you are shiny-hunting, the creature has no other utility in Pokemon GO, and using 14 Raid Passes on it is nothing short of total waste.

Instead, save up the Passes, and once the event hours (2 - 5 pm local time) are over, take part in a bunch of either Zamazenta or Mega Blaziken raids. Both creatures are better than Mega Mawile in every aspect. They will also give the same amount of XP and Stardust rewards, so you can capitalize on the Pokemon GO Mega Mawile Raid Day event ticket bonuses.
