Under the right circumstances, it is possible to solo defeat Kartana in Pokemon GO 5-star raids. However, it goes without saying that it will be an uphill challenge demanding perfect counters and skill. The following sections deal with how to go about the process.

Kartana is a Grass and Steel-type Pocket Monster, and is therefore doubly weak to Fire-type attacks. This is the weakness you must exploit to ride your way to victory. Before looking at the counters you need to achieve this feat, take a look at Kartana's stats and possible moves:

Best counters to solo defeat Kartana in Pokemon GO 5-star raids

According to Pokeattler.com simulations, only two Pocket Monsters can achieve this take down Kartana on their own within the 300 seconds that are allotted for 5-star raids. They are Mega Charizard Y with Fire Spin and Blast Burn and Mega Blaziken with Fire Spin and Blast Burn. The former takes 295.5s and the latter 294.7s.

However, note that this is under highly optimized situations, and slight variations in moveset, attack timings, dodging, internet connectivity, and so on might yield different results.

Tips and tricks to solo defeat Kartana in Pokemon GO

The Charizard or Blaziken you plan on using in this battle must have perfect IVs and be maxed out. It would be even better if you have the Best Buddy boost activated on the critter.

Dodging attacks is also a very important part of achieving success even though both these counters resist all of Kartana's STAB moves. Lastly, stock up on Max Revives, so that you don't waste valuable time separately reviving and healing your raid attacker.

It must be reiterated that while it is technically possible to solo defeat Kartana, the result is dependent on a variety of factors—some of which are out of your control. If you can find another player to accompany you, that would be a much safer bet.
