How to get Togedemaru in Pokemon GO, and can it be shiny?

Togedemaru in Pokemon GO was released during the Test Your Mettle event in September 2022. It is an Electric- and Steel-type Pocket Monster from Generation VII's Sun and Moon games and is designed like a spherical rodent. The creature can be shiny, and this rare form will make its debut at July 2024's Pokemon GO Ultra Unlock: Strength of Steel event.

Togedemaru is the focal point of this event. During it, the creature will be available in the wild, in raids, and as a Field and Timed Research reward. The event will start at 10 am local time on July 25, 2024, and end at 8 pm local time on July 30, 2024.

How to get Togedemaru in Pokemon GO

There are five ways to get Togedematu in Pokemon GO:

Wild encounters

You can run into Togedemaru at any point while walking. However, this is not a particularly common phenomenon. Fortunately, during events like Ultra Unlock: Strength of Steel, the creature appears in the wild more often.

In the wild, the Pocket Monster has a level cap of 35 and no IV floors. Therefore, this is the best way to find a Togedemaru for Pokemon GO PvP.

Eggs

Togedemaru has been available in 10 km Eggs in the past, and there is a chance it might reappear via this mechanic in the future. As of July 2024, you cannot encounter this creature by hatching Eggs.

When obtained through Eggs, Togedemaru has between 1,168 CP (10/10/10 IVs) and 1,234 CP (15/15/15 IVs). It will always be at level 20, irrespective of the prevailing weather conditions.

Raid battles

Togedemaru appears as a 1-star raid boss during specific events like Ultra Unlock: Strength of Steel. It has a raid boss CP of 6,351. Depending on the weather and IVs of the spawn, it will have the following CP ranges:

No weather boost: 1,168 - 1,234 CP at level 20 (10/10/10 - 15/15/15 IVs)
Weather boosted (Rainy or Snowy): 1,461 - 1,543 CP at level 25 (10/10/10 - 15/15/15 IVs)

Research Task encounters

Togedemaru can also be found via event-specific Research during Ultra Unlock: Strength of Steel. In this case, it will always be at level 10, and depending on its IVs, have between 876 and 926 CP.

How to get Shiny Togedemaru in Pokemon GO

Starting from 10 am local time on July 25, 2024, all encounters with Togedemaru have a 1-in-512 or 0.1953% chance of being shiny. The shiny odds can be greater during some events thanks to related bonuses. Although the rare version doesn't look very different from the regular one, it is worth having in your collection.
