Can you teach Lucario Force Palm with Elite TM in Pokemon GO?

Pokemon GO's recent Mega Lucario Raid Day event brought the long-sought-after Mega Evolution into the popular mobile title. Along with this, it also gained access to a new Fast Attack that it could learn during the event, Force Palm. This is another Fighting-type attack for Lucario's arsenal, but it is a rare attack to have nonetheless.

Some players may want to know if they can still get this attack on Lucario via the use of Elite TM items. Sadly, it has been confirmed that players can no longer obtain access to this move if they did not receive it during the recent Mega Lucario Raid Day event. Thankfully, this does not matter for players who enjoy the competitive Battle League, as this move is not preferred for serious usage.

Is Force Palm good on Lucario in Pokemon GO?

Force Palm is a decent move, dealing 13 damage per use and generating 10 energy in the Battle League. In Raid Battles, this move has a base power of nine, but an energy generation of 14. This makes it decently useful for Raid Battles over PvP for builds that prioritize using Charged Attacks.

While it sounds like a relatively average Fighting-type attack, the reason why this attack is seen as subpar is because Lucario has access to Counter, which is one of the best Fast Attacks in Pokemon GO. While Force Palm has higher base numbers in some contexts, Counter is a much faster attack in PvP.

In the time it takes players to use Force Palm twice, Counter can be used three times. This also results in more energy generation, meaning that it is more useful in that context compared to Force Palm as well. The only exception to this is in Raid Battles, where Force Palm generates more energy and is the same speed as Counter (but it deals less damage).

Overall, Force Palm is a relatively useless attack on Lucario, but it is such a rare attack to see on a creature's movelist that it is welcomed nonetheless. This further adds to Force Palm Lucario's value as a collector's item since Force Palm cannot be learned with an Elite TM either.

When is Force Palm Lucario coming back to Pokemon GO?

While there is no way to currently get Force Palm Lucario in Pokemon GO, the stage is perfectly set for a Riolu Community Day. While Lucario's pre-evolved form got a respective Hatch Day, given that it is a Baby Pokemon, the evolutionary line has yet to receive a respective Community Day event.

Since these events usually feature an exclusive event move, and Lucario now has one, this would most likely be the best chance trainers have at finding Force Palm Lucario again. However, this is mere speculation, as it has not been confirmed that Riolu or Lucario are even considered for a Community Day as of writing.
