As many Pokemon fans have surely heard about by now, a massive wave of leaks (dubbed as "Teraleaks") from Game Freak was just uncovered and shared across the internet. These covered various details about upcoming titles, Nintendo's next console, unreleased content from older Pokemon titles, and much more. They were shared on the Centro Leaks X page, with some of these leaks gaining enough attention to be trending on the platform.

Here are five highlights from the recent wave of Game Freak leaks for the Pokemon franchise.

Note: The information in this article is based on leaks and should be taken with a grain of salt.

5 highlights from the Pokemon Game Freak Teraleak

1) Disturbing folklore stories

Some things are better left hidden from the public eye, and many of the unreleased stories from Sinnoh's folklore are a perfect example of this. Two of these have become infamously popular on the X platform, with one even resulting in Typhlosion trending on the website.

Relationships between humans and Pokemon have been hinted at through the released Sinnoh folklore stories at the Canalave City library, but it has now become clear that Game Freak had darker intentions. These stories cannot be described here in detail, but fans may never be able to look at Octillery or Typhlosion the same way ever again if they do their own research.

2) Pokemon mythology

The mythology of the Pokemon world was briefly touched upon in the fourth generation and would once again be grazed in the Legends: Arceus title, but it was never expressed in great detail. The recent leaks have brought the fully-expanded-upon origin of the Pokemon universe, with this seemingly being written since the fourth generation.

Unexpectedly, Pseudo-Legendary Pokemon and Gyarados seem to have been given life by the rulers of land, air, and sea - Rayquaza, Groudon, and Kyogre, respectively. Mesprit being the creator of Regigigas, and the other Regis by extension, is another peculiar development.

3) Prototype footage for Pokemon Black and White

Much like how other generations have had their beta and test footage shown off in previous leaks, the fifth generation has been a big target of the recent leaks. Along with some beta sprites, test footage of the game has been recovered, showing off an early build reusing many assets from the fourth generation.

Beta sprites for the Legendary Pokemon of the region were also shown, as were early versions of the massive 3D renders of the mascot Legendaries for the Unova region, seen in the finished game's opening screen. More information about this early version of Black and White will likely be released as time passes.

4) Confirmation about the Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo's next console has been on the minds of many gamers for years at this point. The recent Game Freak Teraleak has found that the codename for the next console is "Ounce". This was confirmed through the news that the next generation of Pokemon games will be developed for this console.

This does not disprove the most recent wave of console leaks, where its specs and design were shared via a 3D render. It confirms that the new console is in development, and Nintendo is shifting resources towards making games for this new system. This development impacts other Nintendo properties as well, like Mario and The Legend of Zelda.

5) Pokemon Synapse

Ever since the main series transitioned to the third dimension, many veteran fans have been craving a high-quality battle-focused title similar to the Pokemon Stadium games of old. These would allow players to take their creatures from the handheld titles to put them in battles on the big screen. The Game Freak leaks have uncovered a new multiplayer Pokemon game that may return to this old format.

According to the leaks, Pokemon Synapse is an upcoming game in the franchise with a focus on multiplayer battles. It will be made by Game Freak as well as ILCA-the developers behind Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, Pokemon Home, and Pokemon Sleep.
