Who will be the MVP of Super Bowl 2023? Ranking the top 3 Super Bowl LVII MVP candidates

NFC Championship - San Francisco 49ers v Philadelphia Eagles
Jalen Hurts #1 of the Philadelphia Eagles celebrates after defeating the San Francisco 49ers to win in the NFC Championship Game at Lincoln Financial Field on January 29, 2023 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the San Francisco 49ers with a score of 31 to 7.

Super Bowl LVII is a few hours away, and the stage is set for yet another iteration in the history of the biggest game in the NFL. Today's match is between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, two regular-season conference champs and winners of their respective conferences in the postseason. As such, we are clearly witnessing a battle between the best teams in football.

Like every Super Bowl game, there must be a winner, a loser, and an Most Valuable Player (MVP). In this piece, we will rank the top three Super Bowl LVII MVP candidates, three players most likely to come away with the hardware at the end of Super Bowl LVII.

#1 Travis Kelce, Tight End, Kansas City Chiefs

Is Travis Kelce a wide receiver or a tight end? That's a criticism of some Kansas City Chiefs star player levy, but the facts don't lie. Travis is listed as a tight end on the NFL's website, and the younger Kelce brother is in a league of his own.

Over the past few years, the man known as Killa Trav has been torching opposing defenses night after night. He has been a reliable target for Patrick Mahomes for quite some time.

Travis is a better route runner than your favorite wide receiver, and he probably has more receiving touchdowns as well. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end is in a class of his own, and he has the highest odds of any non-quarterback to win that Super Bowl LVII MVP Award.

#2 Patrick Mahomes, Quarterback, Kansas City Chiefs

Has there ever been a quarterback as naturally talented and unorthodox as Patrick Mahomes in the NFL? We doubt there has been, even if there aren't many.

Patrick Mahomes started the 2023 postseason by picking up a high ankle sprain in a divisional-round playoff win against the Jacksonville Jaguars. But that hasn't stopped him from leading the Chiefs to their third Super Bowl game in five years.

Mahomes will always be a favorite to be the best player on the Gridiron anytime he steps foot on it, and Super Bowl LVII shouldn't be any different. As long as the Kansas City Chiefs win, their mercurial QB will likely win the NFL MVP Award for the year.

Just look at his stats in the regular season, 5,250 passing yards, 41 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. They hardly make them like phenomenal Pat anymore.

#3 Jalen Hurts, Quarterback, Philadelphia Eagles

He was the runaway favorite to win the NFL MVP Award in the regular season until he picked up a horrible shoulder injury. Jalen Hurts proved every doubter wrong in 2022, leading the Philadelphia Eagles to an unexpected first seed in the NFC Conference.

Hurts has a better chance of winning the NFL MVP Award because the Eagles are likelier to defeat the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII.

The Eagles play so much better when Hurts is in his bag, which was super apparent in their two losses at the tail end of the 2022 regular season. All Hurts receiving options are available for his Super Bowl debut, and it's his MVP Award to lose. This may be the beginning of something special for Hurts and the Eagles.
