The Miami Dolphins finished the 2023 season with an 11-6 record and qualified for the playoffs. However, the Dolphins were knocked out of the postseason by the Kansas City Chiefs in the wild-card round.

The Dolphins will use this year's preseason to make another strong push into the postseason, and potentially make a deep run in the playoffs.

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said that his QB1 Tua Tagovailoa won't start against Atlanta in the preseason game on Friday. Hence Mike White and Skylar Thompson are expected to share most of the snaps.

The Atlanta Falcons, on the other hand, finished with a 7-10 record and failed to reach the postseason. However, under new coach Raheem Morris, the team enters the 2024 season with a fresh start.

The Falcons will want to fine-tune their squad in this year's preseason games. However, they have not named a starting quarterback for the matchup against Miami on Friday.

Kirk Cousins and Michael Penix Jr. are expected to feature in the game, but the final decision lies with coach Morris.
