By now, most people know the situation with Damar Hamlin, but they don't know a man by the name of Denny Kellington. With the gravity of the situation appearing to be easing as Hamlin shows signs of progress, Kellington's role in giving the Bills safety CPR was vital.

Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer took to his Twitter page to give a special mention to Kellington for his efforts in keeping Damar Hamlin alive.

"One hero who should be recognized here: Last night, I was told the work of Bills assistant athletic trainer Denny Kellington in administering CPR to Damar Hamlin on Monday was absolutely vital. The speed and skill with which he and others reacted = A huge difference-maker."

While many do not know Kellington, Greg Vorse, who writes for Cover1 covering the Buffalo Bills, tweeted out a photo of the trainer so everyone knows who he is.

In good news today, Hamlin was reported as being awake, but could not talk due to the breathing tube. He wrote to communicate and per reports, can move his arms and legs.

Nonetheless, let's get to know the hero Denny Kellington.

Kellington is from Midwest City in Oklahoma and has been with the Bills organization since 2017. He is the assistant athletic trainer for the team.

He was with the Denver Broncos prior to being with the Bills back in 1999 as an offseason intern. Per Buffalonews.com, that was his first taste of professional football.

He was also an athletic trainer in 2002 for the Amsterdam Admirals of NFL Europe but has called Buffalo home for five years now.

With his prompt intervention on Monday night and with the safety's huge improvement over the last few days, it appears that Kellington's actions have proved decisive.

Kellington is a member of what is called the NFL's emergency action plan. It is rarely used at all during games, but given how vital it can be, teams practice it each year.

Thankfully for Hamlin, Kellington's quick thinking seems to have saved his life.
