When was the Steelers' last playoff win? Recapping Pittsburgh's playoff drought

Super Bowl XLV
When was the Steelers' last playoff win?

The Pittsburgh Steelers, who have won six Super Bowls, are a powerful team in the NFL. No team in the league has more than the six Vince Lombardi trophies. The Steelers have also won eight of the 16 AFC Championship games they have taken part in.

The Steelers have remarkably avoided having a losing season in the NFL since 2003, but there's another streak they would like to end in 2024.

The last time the Pittsburgh Steelers won a playoff game was in 2016. That victory came against the Kansas City Chiefs in the divisional round of the playoffs.

However, the Steelers were defeated by the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game that same season. They have now lost all four of their postseason games since then, the most recent of which was a 31-17 loss to the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card round of last season.

As a matter of fact, since the Steelers last won a playoff game in 2016, the other clubs in the AFC North division — Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens — have all won.

Below are all the Steelers' playoff losses since their last win:

2016 AFC Championship: at New England Patriots, 36-17

2017 AFC Divisional Round: vs. Jacksonville Jaguars, 45-42

2020 AFC Wild Card: vs. Cleveland Browns, 48-37

2021 AFC Wild Card: at Kansas City Chiefs, 42-21

2023 AFC Wild Card: at Buffalo Bills, 31-17

When was the Steelers' last Super Bowl win?

The Pittsburgh Steelers have participated in a Super Bowl game on eight occasions. They are still one of just two teams in history to win the Super Bowl six times, along with the New England Patriots.

The Steelers' last Super Bowl victory came in February 2009 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, where they defeated the Arizona Cardinals 27–23.

The Steelers became the first club to win six championships in the Super Bowl era with their triumph in Super Bowl XLIII. That victory also marked their second championship triumph in four years as the squad had previously defeated the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XL in 2006.

The Steelers have participated in the Big Game just once since their most recent Super Bowl victory. They suffered a 31–25 defeat at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, against the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XLV in February 2011.
