Fantasy football leagues are either finished or finishing with the regular season, and the playoffs are here. As such, fantasy enthusiasts are looking for the perfect pick to swing matchups in their favor. ESPN Fantasy Leagues deal with fine margins, with little room for error.

As such, we will explain the concept of ties in fantasy playoffs and what happens if a tie occurs. Ties are exceptionally rare, but they can happen. If there is a playoff tie in ESPN Fantasy Football, the win will go to the higher-seeded team. That's the rule at the time of writing, even though it has led to a lot of criticism over the years.

Some fantasy enthusiasts have suggested that the W should go to the highest-scoring bench. This seems to be a fairer and more sustainable metric and could ensure the losing side feels less disillusioned with the end result. However, any tie breaker would have criticism levied against it.

The above suggestion can be implemented in family and friends' fantasy leagues rather than ESPN fantasy leagues.

Teams with the same record have to be sorted in order to create seedings and playoff fixtures. According to ESPN's support page, this is how ties records in fantasy are resolved:

When more than two teams are tied, the following process begins:

#1.Comparing all the teams that are tied, the team with the best head-to-head record is recorded as the top seed.

#2. Again, compare the head-to-head records of the remaining teams. If the remaining teams did not play each other an equal amount of times, compare the points for, and the team with the highest points is the next seed.

#3. Repeat step two until all tied fantasy teams are seeded.
