T.J. Hockenson injury update: Should Fantasy managers be concerned about Vikings TE for Week 7?

T.J. Hockenson is one of the best tight ends in the NFL when fit. The two-time Pro Bowler is a superb pass catcher, and he's a solid outlet for anyone playing quarterback for the Vikings.

Let's examine the latest injury update regarding Hockenson and whether his fantasy managers should be worried.

Should fantasy managers be concerned about T.J. Hockenson?

T.J. Hockenson has been out of action since suffering torn ACL and MCL against the Detroit Lions on December 27, 2023. The injury ended what had been probably the best season of the Iowa Hawkeyes product's career. He finished the 2023 season with 95 receptions, 960 receiving yards, and five touchdowns in 15 games.

The Vikings placed Hockenson on the reserve/physically unable to perform (PUP) list to start the 2024 season. However, the Vikings star might be set to make his season debut.

Darren Wolfson of KSTP-TV, a Vikings insider, said regarding his availability:

"I wonder if T.J. Hockenson plays on Sunday, but it is more like October 24 that you're not going to have him play two games in five days. So make that move ahead of the Los Angeles Rams game, not the Detroit Lions game."

The Vikings face the Lions in Week 7 before meeting the Rams on TNF in Los Angeles, so Hockenson's return in Week 8 makes more sense. Hence, Hockenson's fantasy managers need not fret. He'll be back in action shortly, but they should consider adding him to the playing roster in Week 8 rather than Week 7.

How have the Vikings performed without T.J. Hockenson?

The Minnesota Vikings haven't missed a beat in the absence of the tight end. Along with the Kansas City Chiefs, the Vikings are one of just two unbeaten teams in the 2024 NFL season.

Sam Darnold and Justin Jefferson are the duo Minnesota never knew it needed, and together, they're breaking down opponents. Jefferson has led the team in receiving yards in all five games. The return of Hockenson will make the Vikings even more lethal as the season reaches its midpoint.
