Keenan Allen fantasy football outlook

Keenan Allen has been one of the most consistently reliable fantasy football wide receivers during his NFL career so far. He has finished among the top 15 players in his position in six of the past seven seasons, with the only exception being in a year that he was limited to appearing in just 10 games.

The 2024 fantasy football season presented a new challenge for Allen after he switched teams for the first time in his career during the offseason. He had previously spent every year with the Los Angeles Chargers, but he was traded to the Chicago Bears. He has failed to continue his dominance this season so far, making him a potential drop candidate ahead of Week 5.

Keenan Allen has already missed two games during the 2024 fantasy football season with an injury, but he has also been disappointing in the two games that he has played in. He has totaled just seven receptions on 14 targets for 48 yards this year and has appeared in just 68% percent of the Bears' offensive snaps across those two games.

Who Should I Start

Sportskeeda's Who Should I Start tool projects Allen to score fewer fantasy points than each of his Bears' teammates at wide receiver in Week 5. This is a reflection of his disappointing season so far, as well as his diminished outlook since joining a new team.

The Bears have a crowded situation with their wide receivers with Allen joining star wideout DJ Moore and promising rookie Rome Odunze. They also have multiple running backs and tight ends that they utilize in their offensive system, so it's hard to imagine Allen carving out a large enough workload to bounce back strong. His disappointing year so far suggests he can be dropped from fantasy lineups for a a different option with more season-long upside.

Keenan Allen fantasy outlook for rest of 2024 season

Keenan Allen spent most of his career with the Chargers, where he was their WR1 and recently played with elite passer Justin Herbert. He appears to be the clear third option of the Bears' wide receivers, and also has the additional hurdle of playing with developing rookie quarterback Caleb Williams.

His new situation has been detrimental to his fantasy value as his workload has taken a major hit as compared to his previous seasons. He has exceeded 100 receptions in five of the past seven seasons, but he is currently on pace for just 53 receptions this year.

Considering the depth of the Bears' offensive roster, as well as the expected inconsistency from a rookie quarterback, it's fair to assume that Allen is not returning to being an elite fantasy football wide receiver.
