Mark Andrews has traditionally been one of the best overall fantasy football tight ends during his career with the Baltimore Ravens so far. The 2024 NFL season has been a much different story as he has struggled to earn himself a role in their offensive system. He has shockingly gone from an elite option in fantasy lineups to an outright drop candidate ahead of Week 5.

Should I drop Mark Andrews for Week 5 fantasy football?

To say that Mark Andrews has struggled during the 2024 fantasy football season so far would be an understatement. His year has been an absolute disaster as he is currently one of the biggest overall busts this year. Managers who selected him during their fantasy drafts likely used a pick in their first five rounds to get him, but after four weeks, he is a realistic candidate to be dropped from fantasy rosters.

The veteran tight end has shown no signs of bouncing back from his slow start, and in fact, things appear to be getting even worse. Across the past two weeks, he has failed to record a single reception and has been targeted by Lamar Jackson just twice. His snap percentage has decreased significantly as well, as his season-high occurred in Week 1 and it has never gone back in the positive direction.

It clearly appears as though the Ravens' offensive philosophy has gone in a different direction that doesn't include Andrews in his formerly featurerd role. He has been outplayed by Isaiah Likely, a rising star tight end, in all four games this season as the veteran appears to be an afterthought in their passing scheme. With most of his work being as a blocker now, it seems safe to drop him from rosters.

Mark Andrews is presenting his fantasy managers with quite a predicament ahead of Week 5. Those who drafted him invested a premium pick to get him and his history with the Ravens has previously made him an absolutely elite tight end. This suggests that he still has decent chance of bouncing back, but the more logical move at this point of the season is to drop him for a higher-upside option.

Andrews has failed to exceed five targets in a single game this year and has totaled just six receptions for 65 yards through four games. The Ravens appear to have fully transistioned to Likely as their preferred receiving tight end, while Andrews has been utilized as a blocker. While he is extremely useful to them in this role, it basically destroys his fantasy outlook for the rest of the 2024 season.
