Week 1 of the 2024 fantasy football season features a Friday night game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers. Managers in season-long leagues will need to adjust their lineups to account for this, while DFS players get an additional slate to participate in. The Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers both have elite offenses, so many of their players are weekly options in fantasy football. Jalen Hurts and Jordan Love both finished among the top 10 quarterbacks last season, while Josh Jacobs and Saquon Barkley have recorded top-three finishes in past seasons.

Both teams also have a ton of depth with many contributors to their offensive systems. One of the most intriguing targets in Week 1 is Christian Watson, who will be making his return from an injury last year. In his final two games of last season, he finished as the weekly WR7 and WR10, so his elite upside has already been proven.

Considering the Eagles allowed the second-most points to fantasy football wide receivers last year, Watson makes for a strong play with a massive ceiling. Here's who joins him as the best starters to target in Week 1 lineups.

Must Starts

  • Jalen Hurts
  • Jordan Love
  • Saquon Barkley
  • Josh Jacobs
  • A.J. Brown
  • DeVonta Smith
  • Christian Watson
  • Jayden Reed

DFS Picks

While many players from this matchup make for strong picks in fantasy football lineups, certain players should still be faded. Jahan Dotson is one example of a player better off avoided this week, due to his unknown role with the Eagles. His fantasy outlook is extremely risky in a crowded offense, though joining a better team this year potentially gives him season-long upside.

Romeo Doubs is another player who should be faded in Week 1 due to the return of Christian Watson to the Packers' starting lineup. While Doubs should still have a fairly significant role this year, his upside is limited when Watson is in the lineup. Here are the rest of the fades from this primetime matchup:

Must Sits

  • Jahan Dotson
  • Romeo Doubs
  • Dallas Goedert

DFS Fades

  • A.J. Brown
  • Jayden Reed
  • Luke Musgrave
  • Romeo Doubs
  • Dallas Goedert
