Wide receiver Noah Brown was among the offensive players who didn't practice for the Washington Commanders on Thursday as they continued to get ready for their Week 5 matchup against the Cleveland Browns.

Brown has been ruled out of Sunday's Week 5 game due to a groin injury, The Washington Post's Nicki Jhabvala reported on Friday.

Brown was initially limited in practice on Wednesday to start the week but was downgraded to DNP on Thursday. It's unknown, however, if the receiver re-aggravated the groin issue in practice on Wednesday.

Brown has become the Commanders' second-string wide receiver this season, providing the team and Jayden Daniels with even more offensive weaponry. He has not been carrying a huge workload, but he is already becoming an important part of the team's offensive unit.

Owing to Noah Brown's expected absence from Sunday's game against the Browns, targets for wide receivers Luke McCaffrey, Olamide Zaccheaus and Dyami Brown will probably be slightly higher in Week 5.

Washington's defensive end Clelin Ferrell has missed the last two games due to a knee injury. He will miss the Week 5 game, as per coach Dan Quinn.

The Commanders' running back Brian Robinson has not practiced this week as well because of a knee injury, but Quinn has not ruled him out yet. Instead, the RB will be a game-time decision. Austin Ekeler, who had a concussion, is expected to return to the squad this week and may see increased work should Robinson finally be declared ineligible.

Noah Brown injury update: What happened to the Commanders WR?

Noah Brown, who the Houston Texans cut in August, has already racked up nine receptions for 111 yards for the Washington Commanders this season. However, he won't be able to improve on those numbers in Week 5 as he has been ruled out due to a groin injury. It is unknown how or when he was hurt.

He had limited practice participation on Wednesday but was a non-participant in Thursday's session.

Brown has placed second among the Commanders' wide receivers in snaps in the last two contests. In each of his three outings, he has also caught exactly three passes, demonstrating his growing significance to the squad.

Last season, Noah Brown recorded 33 catches for 567 yards and two scores in 14 games with the Texans.
