Some breaking news out of Braintree, Massachusetts rocked the NFL world early on October 7, Monday morning with New England Patriots safety Jabrill Peppers arrested on a laundry list of charges.

Per NBC Boston, Peppers was arrested early on Saturday morning on multiple charges including, but not limited to, assault and battery.

Why was Jabrill Peppers arrested? List of charges against Patriots safety explored

On Saturday morning, Braintree Police reportedly received a call about a disturbance at a home. After they reached the scene, the police found out there was an altercation between two people.

They then proceeded to arrest Jabrill Peppers. According to CBS News, the Patriots safety is expected to be charged with assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, strangulation, and possession of a Class B drug that police claim was cocaine.

The report also added that the victim was treated at the scene of the alleged crime.

While the New England Patriots played a game against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, Peppers played no part, owing to a shoulder injury.

At the time of writing, the NFL has not made a statement about Peppers' arrest.

The Patriots released a statement early on Monday morning, stating:

"We are aware of an incident involving Jabrill Peppers over the weekend which the police are currently investigating. We will have no further comment at this time."

Peppers, a team captain, is reportedly scheduled to be arraigned on Monday in Quincy District Court, per a report from NBC Boston.

Jabril Peppers' girlfriend reportedly told Braintree Police that the Patriots safety choked her six times.

"My boyfriend put his hand on my neck and smashed my head against the wall. Then he pushed me down the stairs," she told the police (via WCVB-TV Boston).
