Indianapolis Colts star QB Anthony Richardson has had a tough time in his home stadium. The 22-year-old’s injury woes now continue with him being forced out of Sunday's game.

The QB led the opening drive of the game, which resulted in a rushing touchdown for Jonathan Taylor. In the first quarter itself, the QB ran up the middle for a nice gain with the ball clutched in his hand. During this run, the Indianapolis Colts star got tackled from behind by safety Minkah Fitzpatrick.

Richardson went down holding his hip. The Pittsburgh Steelers did not see Richardson take the field for the next two plays. However, the QB made a return for the next play, took the ball, and ran with it once again.

While the QB was being pressured, this time he chose to slide. However, this was not enough as Richardson held his hip once again and left the field.

“Colts QB Anthony Richardson has gone to the locker room. This was the injury,” Ari Meirov tweeted with video.

Richardson did not take the field for the second quarter. And the Colts soon released an update on his status. The QB has been declared out of the game due to his hip injury.

The Colts have a backup plan behind Anthony Richardson

Richardson has been declared the starting QB for the Colts despite his woeful performances this season. Earlier this season, the Colts bolstered their quarterback bench by signing veteran quarterback Joe Flacco.

"Colts QB Anthony Richardson has been ruled OUT with hip injury. Joe Flacco rest of the way," Cameron Wolfe tweeted.

Flacco was awarded with the NFL Comeback Player of the Year last season. During Richardson’s absence for several plays against the Steelers, Flacco already made his mark on the game.

Now, as the 39-year-old prepares to play the rest of the three quarters, he could also solidify his position for future games.
