Quarterback Deshaun Watson appeared to not be on the same page as his head coach on Sunday afternoon. Early in the third quarter, with the Browns trailing the Washington Commanders by 21 points, head coach Kevin Stefanski was forced to take a delay of the game penalty instead of trying to go for it on 4th-and-goal.

After Deshaun Watson walked off the field, apparently unaware of his team's game plan, the Browns had to settle for a field goal. Videos of the interaction between Watson and Stefanski circulated on X, clearly showing Stefanski's frustration with Watson.

With just two minutes remaining in the Week 5 matchup, Watson had recorded 125 passing yards through the 34-13 game. Not exactly what the Cleveland Browns were expecting when they traded for and extended the quarterback two years ago.

Deshaun Watson shoved Commanders' defender on sidelines after hit

Deshaun Watson wasn't able to get much going in the passing game early on in Sunday's game against the Washington Commanders. In the first quarter, Watson decided to use his legs and try and pick up some yardage.

Commanders rookie cornerback Mike Sainristil tracked Watson down, lowered his shoulder and knocked the quarterback out-of-bounds. The play was clean, as Watson was still in bounds with the ball.

The Browns quarterback apparently didn't appreciate being hit and proceeded to shove Sainristil, who was able to stay on his feet.

The shove though did catch the attention of the rest of the Washington Commanders' defense, who immediately came to the rookie's defense. Watson's teammates also came to his defense as a small shoving match began between both teams.

Watson proceeded to hold up the football as to prove his point. However, it didn't change the official's opinion as there wasn't a penalty on the play.

Heading into Sunday's game, Watson is currently ranked 18th in passing touchdowns this season. The 34-13 loss to the Washington Commanders now has the Browns as a 1-4 record and they have yet to score 20 points this season.

The Browns earned a wild card playoff spot in 2023 after Watson's season ended early with a shoulder injury. Veteran quarterback Joe Flacco then led Cleveland the rest of the season and into a playoff appearance.
