Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman is not happy with the effort of the team's wide receivers this season. The former Super Bowl-winning QB went on a rant during his appearance on 96.7 The Ticket.

Aikman expressed that the WRs are running terrible routes and singled out CeeDee Lamb, who he thinks needs to play much better. He added that they are making Dak Prescott's job harder by playing poorly.

"I think the routes are terrible," Aikman said on Thursday. "I think they run terrible routes and I've thought that beyond this year. I think CeeDee (Lamb) has got to improve in his route running. As a quarterback, if you're not certain where guys are going to be consistently, it's hard to play the position. That's what I see."
"I see guys lazy coming off the line of scrimmage. Sometimes they run, usually if they do, it's because they're anticipating they're going to get the football on that play, but if they're not, they don't. And it all ties together. I'm not impressed with that part of it."

Aikman said that compared to other teams in the NFL, the Cowboys' route running is poor. He added that it's tough for Prescott to succeed when his WRs are running routes inconsistently.

"I just finished watching the Baltimore Ravens because I have them this week," Aikman said. "You put on film of theirs and watch their receivers run routes and they come off the football, so does San Francisco's and Green Bay's and others. But it's hard to play the (QB) position if you're not certain how guys are going to run routes or where they're going to be."
"And I'm not speaking for Dak (Prescott). Dak may say, 'Hey, I think (their routes) are amazing.' But as a former quarterback watching it, it's gotta get a lot better."

The Dallas Cowboys have struggled at home this season

The Dallas Cowboys have had a weird season so far in 2024. They enter Week 7 with a 3-3 record — third in the NFC East.

After opening the campaign with a win against the Cleveland Browns, the Cowboys lost their next two games against the New Orleans Saints and Baltimore Ravens, both at home. They responded with two close road game wins against the New York Giants and the Pittsburgh Steelers. At home in Week 6, they were blown out by the Detroit Lions, 47-9.

For some reason, the Cowboys have struggled at home this season and have been outscored 119-53.

They have a bye this week and will then play back-to-back road games. They will return home on Nov. 10 to host the Philadelphia Eagles.
