Titans WR Calvin Ridley frustrated with usage on offense after zero-catch game vs Colts - Source: Imagn

When wide receiver Calvin Ridley took to the field wearing the number 0 jersey for the Titans against the Colts, he would never have imagined that would be the same number of catches he would record in the game. But that is exactly what happened as Tennessee struggled on offense throughout the match. This loss means they are now 1-4 for the NFL season and looking increasingly unlikely to challenge for a spot in the playoffs.

As one would expect, Calvin Ridley was frustrated when asked by the media about the whole situation. The Titans wide receiver said he needed to be involved in their offensive output right from the beginning of the match and used some choice words to convey the depth of his feelings.

"So I need some in the beginning of the f**king game too. Like s**t is getting crazy for me. I gotta get the ball early in the game so I could be in the game and here with the team, so I can play well."

Calvin Ridley's playing well for Titans when he gets the opportunity

Calvin Ridley should feel frustrated with not getting involved in the game against the Colts, but the team should feel the same for not finding a way to get him the ball. The player is understandably upset but what the franchise should note is that he is playing better than ever when he has the opportunity.

Even after this debacle against Indianapolis, he has 141 yards in just 9 receptions. That is 15.7 yards per catch, the highest he has ever recorded in his career. The problem is that he has just two receptions in the last three games, which shows that today was just the nadir of a stat line that is continuously trending downward.

Calvin Ridley recorded nine yards three weeks ago and five yards before the bye last week with one catch each per match. In the first two games of the season, he had 127 yards in 7 receptions. It is hard to imagine what has happened that he has not been given the ball more in recent weeks.

But whatever might be the reason, the Titans need to clean it up. Their issues stretch beyond Calvin Ridley, though, and there are problems all over the pitch. They would be bottom of the AFC South were it not for the hapless Jaguars and that they could not improve even after the bye week should worry their fans.
