After an outstanding portrayal of New England Patriots legend Rob Gronkowski in the American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez web series, actor Laith Wallschleger is all set to play Travis Kelce in an upcoming movie. However, Gronkowski isn't impressed with Wallschleger playing Kelce.

Last week, the cast for Christmas in the Spotlight was announced, a movie based on the Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift romance. Kelce's role will be portrayed by Laith Wallschleger. On Sunday, Gronkowski appeared on the Up & Adams show, during which he took a jab at Wallschleger.

When host Kay Adams asked:

"He's playing Travis freaking Kelsey on a, like a Hallmark Channel Lifetime movie?

"Yeah, because he had to stop playing me because he wasn't jacked enough, so he has to play Travis Kelce now in a Hallmark movie," Gronkowski replied.

In the movie, Laith Wallschleger will play an athlete named Drew, a character that is highly inspired by Travis Kelce. Wallschleger's co-star Jessica Lord will be playing Bowyn, who's a famous singer just like Taylor Swift. The movie is all set to release on November 23.

Rob Gronkowski praised Laith Wallschleger's performance in "Christmas in the Spotlight"

Despite taking shots at Laith Wallschleger for playing the Travis Kelce-inspired role, Rob Gronkowski is nothing but full of praise for the actor. Moving forward in the interview, Gronkowski shed light on his real-life friendship with Wallschleger while praising his performance in the show.

"It was definitely over the top. You want to know a fun fact about that clip? That is my good friend Laith who is playing me there. I've known him for about 14 years, and he definitely went over the top, and I feel like it just fit the show perfectly, though," Gronkowski said. (0:34)

"Especially with all the other characters and Coach [Bill] Belichick and just seeing [Patriots owner] Robert Kraft in the show as well. Like I said, over the top, a little exaggerated, that's for sure, but it played a part in how this show was produced," Gronkowski further added.

Despite being highly inspired by Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift's romance, the movie won't be mentioning the couple by their names. All the fans will be looking forward to enjoying the couple's reel romance. Are you excited for the movie?
