Patrick Mahomes is excited at the prospect of winning an unprecedented third straight Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs. He is also excited at the prospect of seeing LeBron James and company win another Olympic gold medal.

On Monday, Team USA defeated Germany 92-88 at the O2 Arena in London to sweep their five-game exhibition series ahead of the Paris Olympics, where they will look to defend their title. James was the leading scorer with 20 points, and he also had six rebounds and four assists.

Mahomes tweeted a congratulatory message.

Team USA begins its Olympic campaign on Sunday against Nikola Jokic's Serbia. The Chiefs, meanwhile, open the NFL season against the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 6.

Patrick Mahomes nearly lost backup Carson Wentz for the season to injury, laughs about it

The current iteration of the Patrick Mahomes era in Kansas City has been mostly defined by a lack of top wide receivers, but it has also had to sit through a lack of credible backups for their star quarterback.

That changed during the offseason, when general manager Brett Veach replaced Blaine Gabbert with Carson Wentz. The one-time Pro Bowler and fellow Super Bowl champion with the Philadelphia Eagles represents a major upgrade over one of the boat notorious draft busts of the 21st century.

But during the Chiefs’ first preseason camp on Sunday, that signing nearly went to waste in the most bizarre of ways.

Wentz was walking on some artificial turf with Mahomes and fellow backups Ian Book and Chris Oladokun when he suddenly lost his footing. Fortunately, he did not completely slip and suffer a devastating injury.

Still, that did not prevent his more successful teammate from mocking him, telling whoever was filming the scene:

“Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me? Hey, post that. Post that.”

Even Oladokun chimed in:

“You gotta post that. You have to post that.”
