Nyheim Hines' fantasy outlook: Is he a good pick?

Nyheim Hines was traded from the Indianapolis Colts to the Buffalo Bills on deadline day. Fantasy football owners of Hines will likely be very interested in what this could potentially mean for them. Hines was always the RB2 at the Colts, as most running backs would be if they played alongside Jonathan Taylor. However, with this move to the Bills, he might have the chance to showcase his talents as a rusher and, most importantly, as a receiver.

Buffalo were an almost perfect team from the get-go, but adding a dual-threat running back like Hines could help. Hines will be joining a backfield with players like Devin Singletary and James Cook, who have struggled in the pass-heavy Bills offense.

Hines cost them Zack Moss and a conditional 2023 sixth-round draft pick, making it look like a steal at face value. Nyheim Hines projects to be a sold fantasy RB2 or a wildcard RB1, with the next few games being a huge indicator of how the Bills plan to use him. If Buffalo utilizes him in a similar way to how the San Francisco 49ers use Christian McCaffrey, fantasy owners are in luck. The concern is that Buffalo might just carry on as before and Hines will barely touch the ball.

NC State alum Hines has been a solid fantasy backup since he was taken by the Colts in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. While he has not rushed for over two touchdowns in a season, he has had a lot of success receiving the ball.

Nyheim Hines is a good pick, and potentially a great one. Hines has been impressive in consistently contributing to the Colts, despite playing significantly fewer snaps compared to Jonathan Taylor. However, Hines' football IQ has shone, allowing him to be used in different offensive schemes. Fantasy owners should be very excited, as Hines' talents are bound to be utilized. Otherwise, why would the Bills have moved for him?

Nyheim Hines' timeline

Hines has had a decent NFL career thus far, fluctuating his role in the Indianapolis Colts backfield. He has recorded 1,205 rushing yards, ten rushing touchdowns, 1,725 receiving yards, and seven receiving touchdowns in 72 career games.
