Cincinnati Bengals wide recevier Ja'Marr Chase is one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, and will soon be paid as such. After trying to land the first contract extension of his NFL career, Chase and the Bengals were unable to land a long-term agreement before the start of the 2024 season.

Both sides remain apart on a new contract, but have the understanding that they'll pick up talks after the season.

ESPN insider Adam Schefter joined "The Pat McAfee Show" and was asked if there's a chance a Chase deal gets done with the Bengals during the season. Schefter said right away that won't happen, and spoke about his $50 million insurance plan.

Schefter said:

"He took out an insurance policy on the season. They'll revisit this after the year, and they'll figure this out eventually. But it doesn't sound like it's happening in-season... I think it's 10s of millions. I was told it was 50. Then someone called like, 'That can't be right?' I'm like, 'Well, that's what I was told.' It was a $50 million policy."

What will the Cincinnati Bengals do with Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins?

The Cincinnati Bengals are going to be in a tough spot next offseason. Wide receiver Tee Higgins will become a free agent for a second-straight offseason, and Ja'Marr Chase will be entering the final year of his rookie contract. In an ideal world, the Bengals would extend and keep both next offseason.

Cincinnati had the chance to extend Higgins this offseason. The two sides never agreed to a long-term deal, forcing the Bengals to franchise tag the wide receiver. While the team could do that again next offseason, they wouldn't be able to again going forward.

According to overthecap.com, the Bengals have roughly $65 million in cap space next season. It's not out of the realm to get both deals done. But will they?

The Bengals arent big spenders in free agency and typically don't overpay for players. Chase will likely seek a contract that makes him a top-five or top-three highest-paid wide recevier while Higgins will likely seek a top-10 highest-paid contract.

Chase and Higgins are the team's leaders in receptions, and yards, and are still one of the best duos in the league.

Do you think the Bengals will keep both Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins next season?
