Following the New York Jets' 23-17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England in Week 5, the team decided to part ways with head coach Robert Saleh and hand over the rein to defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich in an interim capacity until the end of the season.

Ulbrich made a bold decision on his second day on the job as he demoted offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett and gave the playcalling duties to passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach Todd Downing ahead of their Monday Night Football clash against division rivals Buffalo Bills at MetLife Stadium.

The move worked wonders as Aaron Rodgers and the Jets offense got off to a terrific start. They embarked on an eight-play, 54-yard drive in the game's opening drive and opened the scoring courtesy of a 34-yard field goal from kicker Greg Zuerlein. After the Bills responded with a touchdown, the home team fired back with another stellar drive.

Running backs Breece Hall and Braelon Allen combined for 36 yards on four carries, while Rodgers completed three of his five pass attempts for 34 yards, including the five-yard touchdown pass to Garrett Wilson, which saw the Jets reclaim the lead.

Fans on social media were thoroughly impressed with New York's offensive tempo in their first two drives, with some calling out Hackett along the way.

Here are some reactions from fans on X/Twitter:

While some fans were glad to see the Jets' offense start the game well, others berated Hackett for holding the players back with his playcalling:

"This Jets offense looks alive for the first time in decades," @ChrisKlemmer remarked.
"Robert Saleh might not have been the problem. Although Hackett certainly was a problem," @noonernation wrote.
"The removal of Hackett has resulted in the Jets offense looking the best they have all year. As we aren't even to halftime," @EZiesman11 opined.

The Bills hold a 20-17 lead at halftime.
