Tom Brady is reportedly set to become a part-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, but that has seemingly coincided with star wide receiver Davante Adams being traded to the New York Jets for a 2025 conditional third-round pick.

But Mark Davis, owner of the franchise valued at $6.7-billion( according to Forbes), sees a positive in the transaction. Speaking to reporters during Tuesday's owner meetings, he said:

"We traded Davante Adams for Tom Brady and a third-round pick today. Although Tom can't play, he can help us select a quarterback in the future and potentially train him as well."

The pick will become a second-rounder if Adams either is named an All-Pro or reaches the AFC Championship Game. But in either case, the Raiders are unlikely to use it on a quarterback. Instead, they have their first-rounder for that - with Carson Beck and Shedeur Sanders seen as the likely options.

Mark Davis discusses wanting Tom Brady as Raiders QB in 2020

Mark Davis has seemingly been hoping to bring Tom Brady at Raiders for quite some time now.

Back in 2020, at the same time that the Raiders were set to move to Las Vegas, the legendary quarterback was a free agent - one of the most highly-coveted in league history. The franchise reportedly badly wanted him to come in and replace the inconsistent Derek Carr. Davis recalled:

"We got to know each other a little bit then, and it didn't come to fruition for certain reasons. He went to Tampa Bay and ended up winning the Super Bowl."

But that did not stop the two from still having links with each other:

"I had stayed in touch with his agent at the time (Don Yee), that I would at some point in time love to be part of this organization. And so the seeds were sown."

Davis also discussed the "Tuck Rule Game", the 2001-02 AFC Divisional Round Matchup between the Raiders and New England Patriots. Late in that game, Brady was seemingly sacked when looking for a pass. However, the call was controversially redeclared an incompletion.

The owner said:

"He did admit it was a fumble."

Brady and the Patriots would begin their dynasty two games later.
