Kansas City Chiefs fans received a bittersweet update regarding Rashee Rice's health. The second-year wide receiver underwent successful LCL surgery after going down in Week 4 of this season against the LA Chargers.

Rice will be out for eight to 12 weeks, meaning his season is over, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz. The good news is that he didn't suffer structural damage or tears to his ACL or meniscus. This is the best-case scenario for the talented receiver.

Chiefs fans took to social media to react to the news, mostly agreeing that it was good to see Rice not suffer major harm during the infamous Patrick Mahomes tackle.

"Least bad news for sure," one fan said.
"As good of an outcome as he could have had. While his season over, he should be good to go for all offseason team activities and training, putting him inline to actually be 100% at start of next season," another fan said.
"Solid news but now we need a receiver," another fan said.

Other fans paid special attention to Schultz's update's 'regular season' section, with some wondering if they could see Rice back for a potential playoff run.

"Jordan, you say regular season, is there still a chance he returns for the post season?" one fan asked.
"So out regular season but not necessarily out for the playoffs?" another fan wondered.

What happened to Rashee Rice?

Rashee Rice went down when the Kansas City Chiefs took on and beat the LA Chargers on Sept. 29. After Patrick Mahomes threw an interception, the quarterback tried to make a tackle on a Chargers player. Unfortunately, he hit Rice's leg. Rice's right knee bent backward awkwardly before he fell to the ground.

The aftermath of the play showed worrisome signs for Rice. He was helped off the field before the diagnosis confirmed what many people thought. Rice's season ends with 24 receptions for 288 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns.

He was coming off the best game of the season against the Atlanta Falcons (12 receptions for 110 receiving yards and one touchdown) before picking up the injury against the Chargers.

The Chiefs have stayed competitive and unbeaten after defeating the New Orleans Saints on Monday night at Arrowhead Stadium, but Rashee Rice's absence could be costly in the long run.
