Jerry Jones gets trolled after update on Cowboys’ Odell Beckham Jr. pursuit

The Cowboys are set to sign Odell Beckham Jr.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has delivered what might be a superb signing for his team. After the very public chasing of Odell Beckham Jr., it appears that Dallas will get their man.

After not working out for the team last week, many thought the deal was dead in the water. With the kind of money that the receiver wanted, coupled with his inability to work out for the team to see what his troublesome knee could do, it looked like it wasn't going to happen. Not so fast.

The billionaire owner on Friday gave the biggest indication yet that OBJ is going to choose the Cowboys as his team. Jones said in a chat with Jarrett Bell of USA Today that Beckham Jr. will join Dallas. Jones added that he would have "Deion Sanders-like" results.

NFL fans quickly jumped on that quote, with one saying the owner has dementia.

"He's comparing him to Deion he might actually have dementia."

Other NFL fans were quick to give their thoughts on Jones comparing the star receiver to perhaps the best cornerback to play the game.

Most fans do not agree with Jones stating that OBJ will have "Deion Sanders-like" results if he signs.

Any time a player of Beckham Jr.'s caliber joins a team, regardless of his health, it is considered a good pickup. But it is important to remember that should the receiver join Dallas, people should not expect him to take over games with 11 receptions and 130 yards like he used to.

With CeeDee Lamb, Michael Gallup, T.Y. Hilton, and Noah Brown, Dallas are already deep at the receiver position. But Beckham can bring the ability to make a crucial play here and there.

He will not have to be "the guy" on every play; instead, he will attract the third or fourth-best defender. No matter where he is lined up on the field, opposing defenses will have to account for him.

That will allow Dallas' other receivers to go to work. The Cowboys want Beckham Jr. to play here and there, not to dominate a game, and given how late into the season he is reportedly arriving, don't expect him to set the league on fire immediately.
