Dennis Allen received flak from J.J. Watt as the former defender ripped the Saints head coach for New Orleans' performance against the Broncos with Drew Brees in attendance at the Superdome. The game was gone by the third quarter with the home team trailing 26-3 against a team led by Saints' former Super Bowl-winning coach Sean Payton.

It was the ultimate embarrassment for Allen and his team especially as Brees was being inducted into the franchise's Hall of Fame. The New Orleans players did not raise their game to pay tribute to arguably the greatest player in their history, and Watt pinned the blame on the head coach.

The legendary pass rusher wrote on Twiter:

"You can’t put up this kinda performance in the dome on Drew Brees night…"

Dennis Allen has now led the Saints to a 2-5 record for the season. Excluding the first two weeks, which were won against the Panthers and Cowboys who have also allowed a lot of points in other matches, they are now on a five-game losing streak.

J.J. Watt was not the only one wondering what the head coach was doing to get the most out of his team. Admittedly, the Saints had a lot of injuries to contend with, including starting quarterback Derek Carr and the top wide receivers, but this was a concerning performance. Richard Sherman spoke up at halftime and wondered if the players were downing tools to get the coach fired.

But the ultimate embarrassment was when rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler was caught on camera mouthing what seemed like:

“What are we doing?”

It was an all-around disappointing performance on Thursday night by the Saints. The fans who were pumped to see Drew Brees inducted and given his due honor were silent or leaving toward the end of the game. Dennis Allen could only watch as fans gave up on the team. In addition to that, Marshon Lattimore and Paulson Adebo went out injured and did not return to the game.

It was a thoroughly bad night, and Watt and Sherman's comments are not what would worry the head coach the most. That the supporters were either tuning out or rooting against him is a bigger and more immediate problem for him to address. Whether he is given that opportunity by the ownership after this loss against the Broncos remains to be seen.
