Is there an NFL team without a playoff win?

It's a familiar maxim in the NFL that success is difficult. How many of the 32 franchises in the competition, which is split into two divisions with 16 teams each, the AFC and the NFC—have never experienced a playoff victory?

The NFL's two conferences have seven teams apiece that make it to the postseason. When there's a tie, a tie-breaking process is applied to ensure that there are 14 teams.

It so happens that all 32 franchises currently playing in the NFL have earned a postseason berth and achieved victory. Twelve of the 32 franchises have never claimed a Super Bowl win, though, while another four have never made a Super Bowl appearance.

Four expansion organizations (Carolina Panthers, Cincinnati Bengals, Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars) and one team that debuted during the inaugural Super Bowl season (Atlanta Falcons) are among the 12 yet to win the Super Bowl.

Before the AFL-NFL union, the seven other teams (Arizona Cardinals, Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Chargers, Minnesota Vikings and Tennessee Titans) had won either the NFL or AFL titles. The Cardinals have had a 75-year title drought, which is the worst of any team.

Which team currently has longest win drought in postseason?

The Detroit Lions moved to the summit of the list of active postseason win droughts following the Cincinnati Bengals' victory against the Las Vegas Raiders in the 2021 wild-card game. The longest skid in the NFL is held by the Lions, who have been beaten in nine straight postseason contests.

The Lions have only reached the playoffs three times since 2000 but have not yet experienced playoff success since 1991.

What are other significant NFL postseason records?

The Houston Texans (6), Jacksonville Jaguars (7) and Carolina Panthers (8) are the only three teams without at least ten postseason games.

The Dallas Cowboys, one of the NFL's most recognizable and well-followed teams, have played in 66 postseason games, which is the most by any franchise. The Cowboys won five Super Bowls inl eight appearances.

The New England Patriots have the highest playoff win rate and the most postseason victories (37 wins, 22 losses - .627).

The Detroit Lions have the lowest postseason win rate (.350), with a 7-13 record, and the Minnesota Vikings have the most postseason defeats (31). In terms of fewest postseason appearances (10), victories (4) and defeats (6) in the NFL, the Houston Texans hold them all.
