Eagles cornerbacks Zech McPhearson and Darius Slay are laying the foundation for their seasons, but those in the Olympics are seeing the culmination of years of training. Some athletes cash in with their preparation, and others have it ripped away. At least, that is what the Eagles' cornerbacks appear to believe based on their reaction to what took place in the Olympic boxing event.

The Round of 16 women's boxing bout featured Italian boxer Angela Carini against Algeria's Imane Khelif, who failed a gender eligibility test in 2023. Carini abandoned her match 46 seconds into the bout.

Taking to social media to react, Zech McPhearson and Darius Slay condemned the turn of events. Here's what McPhearson posted:

"I feel bad for her. Confidence crushed. Everything she worked for just taken away. On the biggest stage of her career…smh."

Slay wrote just one word.

The controversial ending to the boxing game comes during an ongoing conversation about transgender roles in sports. Some believe it is wrong to disbar someone based on their gender history.

Others believe it is wrong to allow athletes who were men in the past to participate in women's sports. The controversy appears to have only grown over the years, with no end in sight.

The controversy is taking the internet by storm and Eagles players appear to be taking notice on both sides of the ball. Running back Saquon Barkley has also acknowledged the controversial event. Taking to Twitter/X on Thursday, Barkley reposted a message posted by swimmer Riley Gaines.

Gaines' post condemned the controversial boxing ending. Here's what she wrote:

"Men don't belong in women's sports #IStandWithAngelaCarini Let's get it trending."

After the boxing match, Imane Khelif's hand was raised as the winner. Meanwhile, the camera cut to Angela Carini, who was sobbing. She faces the prospect of needing to spend another four years training to get another shot.

Barkley and the rest of the Eagles are busy prepping for their first preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens. The game takes place on Friday, August 9 at 7:30 PM EST.
