NFL fans collectively let out a sigh of relief late last week as Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin's condition improved and positive news about his prognosis was released.

The Buffalo Bills placed the second-year safety on the Injured Reserve this week, a move that everyone knew was inevitable, but the business side of the National Football League always leads to a sour taste for fans.

In some contracts, when an NFL player is placed on the Injured Reserve, they are no longer on the active roster, which means that their pay is not the same as it would be if they were dressed for the game and taking the field.

Earlier on Sunday morning, NFL insider Ian Rapoport Tweeted that Hamlin's four-year contract which he signed when he was drafted by the Bills in 2021, indicates that he would receive half his pay if he was placed on the Injured Reserve.

The Buffalo Bills didn't want to go that route and spoke with the NFL and NFLPA and a mutual agreement was put in place that the team will continue to pay him in full.

Rapoport then said that Damar Hamlin's salary for the 2022 season was said to be $825,000, which would have been cut down to $455,000 and at this point in the season was about a $20,000 difference. The BIlls will now pay for all of that in full.

But fans from across the league still weren't satisfied. While taking to social media, fans said that this shouldn't have to be agreed upon and the Bills safety should have just been paid in full regardless.

Some fans applauded the Buffalo Bills organization and others said that the NFL should follow the lead of other professional sports and guarantee contracts when players are injured.

Bills safety Damar hamlin takes to social media to thank everyone for support

The Kansas City Chiefs and Las Vegas Raiders game on Satu24-year-oldoon was the first since Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field during Monday Night Football. The 24-year-old safety went into cardiac arrest after a routine tackle in the first quarter of the game.

In the first game of Week 18 at Allegiant Stadium, both the Chiefs and Raiders showed support for him, which led to his first social media post since Monday.

Hamlin thanked everyone for all of their love and support and said that when you show love, it comes back to you three times as much. He then went on to say that this experience will only make him stronger and that he is on the road to recovery.

"Putting love into the world comes back 3xs as much… thankful for everyone who has reached out and prayed. This will make me stronger on the road to recovery, keep praying for me!"

Despite just a social media post, it is another sign of him moving in a positive direction with his recovery.
