Kirk Cousins and the Atlanta Falcons needed to make a statement early in their Thursday Night Football game against their divisional rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And they did, much to the delight of fans.

Right in the opening drive, the four-time Pro Bowl quarterback found his top wideout Drake London for a touchdown in the middle of the field:

And there was much rejoining after the play:

"London is going to be an All Pro this season"
"Dang, making it look easy," one fan said.
"That's a quick 6!" one fan exclaimed.

More of it can be seen below:

"That drive left the defense clueless," one praised.
"A truck-spin from a 6’4 wr is kinda crazy," another marveled.
"London Cousins connection going crazy," another cheered.

The Buccaneers would eventually tie the game via a touchdown pass by Baker Mayfield to Mike Evans. They would then take the lead via a 53-yard field goal by Chase McLaughlin.

Kirk Cousins, Baker Mayfield partner to deliver financial aid to victims of Hurricane Helene

Kirk Cousins and Baker Mayfield may be intradivisional rivals nowadays, but they did something very generous before tonight. They set aside regional enmity to announce that they would each be giving $50,000 to the relief efforts for the victims of Hurricane Helene.

In a video posted on the official X account of the humanitarian organization Team Rubicon, Kirk Cousins said:

"[Team Rubicon has] volunteers who are on the front lines, getting their hands dirty and getting involved to do all the work it takes to clean up. We’re making donations, and we want to bring a call to action to encourage all of you to give what you can."

Here is what Mayfield said:

"In the wake of Hurricane Helene, countless lives have been profoundly impacted across the Southeastern United States. The destruction was severe, leaving many families struggling to find shelter and basic necessities.
"We stand with those who have been affected, honoring the lives lost and the families that are still in distress. Together we make a difference."

The Buccaneers' owners, The Glazer family, also supported the relief efforts by donating $1 million to local non-government organizations. The Falcons organization has pledged $2 million.

Other donations from within the league include $3 million from the Carolina Panthers and $1 million each from the Houston Texans and the NFL Foundation.

As of this writing, the death toll from Helene has exceeded 210 people, including 33 in Georgia.
