On Thursday, Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle became one of the highest-paid wide receivers in the NFL. The Dolphins and Waddle agreed to a three-year, $84.75 million contract extension, which includes $76 million guaranteed. The deal makes him the fourth-highest-paid receiver in the NFL, with $28.5 million per year.

Waddle trails his teammate, Tyreek Hill, who is the third-highest wideout in the NFL, as he makes $30 million a season.

Following the news of Waddle becoming one of the league's highest-paid wide receivers, fans were shocked.

"Chris Grier really got the best receiver from 2021 without spending the most money He is truly better than your GM in every way," one fan said.
"Been healthy. Huge production. Tyreek says he wants to retire after his contract expires. Makes perfect sense," another fan said.
"Dolphins been making the best moves every offseason," another fan said.

While the Dolphins managed to extend another key young player on their team, it came at a price.

On their current deals, Hill and Waddle combine for a whopping $58 million per year annually for the Dolphins.

While some knew the Dolphins would have to give Waddle a big payday for his productive first three seasons, some fans thought it was an overpay by the Dolphins.

"Not even a top 5 WR in the division smh," one person said.
"Top 5 pay for not even close to top 5 production," one person said.
"76 mil guaranteed over 3 years for 18 career tuddy's is nasty, nasty business. Jesus. JJ is probably asking for 40 mil a year at this rate," another person said.

In his first three seasons in the NFL, Jaylen Waddle has recorded 251 catches for 3,385 yards and 18 touchdowns.

After extending wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, the Miami Dolphins will likely be turning their attention to extending their quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa.

Tagovailoa, who was drafted in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, will be playing in the final year of his rookie contract this season.

An extension is expected to surpass $50 million per season, as Tagovailoa could become one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL. The Dolphins also have safety Jevon Holland, who is due for a contract extension.

General manager Chris Grier and the team have a lot on their plate.
