The Detroit Lions recently had team-organized activities, and apprarently, things got too physical.

The Lions were notified on Friday that they violated player work rules pertaining to on-field physical contact in practice. As a result, the team will now forfeit their practice on Monday, June 10.

Here's the official statement from the Detroit Lions after they were penalized by the authorities:

"On Friday evening the organization was made aware by the NFL and NFLPA that Organized Team Activities (OTA) practices held the week of May 27 violated player work rules pertaining to on-field physical contact pursuant to the Collective Bargaining Agreement."
"As a result, the team’s OTA practice scheduled for Monday, June 10, has been forfeited. We take very seriously the rules set forth within the NFL’s Offseason Program and have worked to conduct our practices accordingly. We will continue to be vigilant with our practices moving forward.”

OTA practices restrict physical contact in their practice as part of their collective bargaining agreement. Instead of resuming OTAs on Monday, they will pick up their practices on Tuesday.

In some good news that involves the Detroit Lions, head coach Dan Campbell said that third-year wide receiver Jameson Williams is a "man on a mission".

Due to his knee injury during the 2022 National Championship game, Williams only appeared in six games as a rookie. To begin the 2023 season, Williams was one of four Lions' players who was suspended for violating the league's gambling policy. He winded up playing in 12 games last season.

Campbell also said (via NBC) that Williams may be the most improved player heading into the 2024 season.

"Give me one player who is the most improved from that start to finish over that time? Jamo is that guy right now. He is a man on a mission and I’m just going to leave it at that.”

As a rookie, Williams appeared in six games, only recording one catch for 41 yards and a touchdown. He also had one rushing attempt for 40 yards.

During his second season in the NFL, Williams had 24 catches for 354 yards and two touchdowns. On the ground, he had 29 rushing yards on three carries and scored a touchdown.
