Davante Adams sends out a strong message after finalizing trade to join Aaron Rodgers' Jets

In July, ESPN's Dan Orlovsky predicted Davante Adams would be a member of the New York Jets sometime this year. On Tuesday morning, the former Detroit Lions quarterback had an opportunity to gloat about his prediction after the New York Jets finalized a trade to bring Adams to the Big Apple.

The trade came at a time when Jets fans desperately needed a pick-me-up after the Monday Night Football loss to the Buffalo Bills that left them in third place in the AFC East.

The trade caught many by surprise even as reports emerged that this wasn't a panic move by the franchise. Adams confirmed as much during a surprise appearance on FS1's The Facility after former Green Bay Packer James Jones FaceTimed him live on the show. Adams said his flight left Sin City at midnight and added that he was ready to get to work.

“We rolling," Adams said after answering the FaceTime call.
"I’m in this thing," he added.
"I’m ready. I couldn’t be more excited.”

Aaron Rodgers addresses Davante Adams' trade

On the Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers started by saying that it was a "crappy" Monday after the Jets blew an opportunity to get to 3-3 by winning a home game. The four-time NFL MVP said he was "p*ssed" driving home through traffic and wasn't in the mood to talk to anybody.

Which is when he received a call around 12:45 am informing him the Jets were trading for the Raiders All-Pro.

Incidentally, Adams also made a surprise appearance at Rodgers' house in New York during the show.

What did the Jets trade for Davante Adams?

While the Raiders were holding out for a second-round pick all month, the Jets ultimately sent a conditional third-rounder to Las Vegas. The pick will turn into a second-rounder if Adams makes the First-Team or Second-Team All-Pro and if he's on the roster if the Jets make it all the way to the AFC Championship Game.

The Jets will pay Adams a salary of $11.59 million this year, nearly all of which is guaranteed.
