The Dallas Cowboys are the most popular team in the NFL, but after many seasons of failures and the lack of a Super Bowl since 1995, it might seem that the fans are giving up on the team. And nothing is a bigger sign of this than this year's training camp.

The stands were way emptier than what they used to be in a Cowboys' training camp, and this hasn't gone unnoticed by the players. Running back Ezekiel Elliott, who returned to the team in 2024 after a season with the New England Patriots, spoke about the stands not being packed this year:

This offseason has been critical for the Cowboys and the start hasn't been as expected. Dak Prescott is unhappy with the team due to his contract situation, CeeDee Lamb didn't even report to camp yet as he looks for a new deal and the vibes are down after the loss in the Wild Card Round.

Dallas is the most popular team in America, but at this point, they need a big shift in mentality to bring the fans together again.

Owner Jerry Jones has been heavily criticized by Cowboys fans, especially as he promised to go all-in in the 2024 season as he tries to take Dallas to the conference championship for the first time since the 1995 season. This is not the first time that we've seen a promising team failing to turn their regular-season success into a playoff run. Sure, there's a lot of blame to unpack, especially with quarterback Dak Prescott, but the team also seems to be living in a different world.

This only leads to situations where the fans are so upset and disappointed that they don't even care to show up anymore. This is going to be the case for a while until they prove themselves again. If it doesn't happen in 2024, a fresh start with new faces in 2025 could help them as well.
