Ezekiel Elliott is back with the Cowboys after a hiatus of one year. The fan favorite has been deployed as a second running option for the offensive plays this season. However, the Cowboys fans are adamant that they want to see more of Zeke.

The Dallas Cowboys registered an emphatic victory in their season opener last week. However, the week 2 fixture against the New Orleans Saints isn’t going to plan. With Derek Carr leading the Saints to a scoring spree against ‘America’s Team’, fans question the reason for not utilizing Zeke.

The Cowboys faithful took to X and called out the decision to have Ezekiel Elliott on the bench.

“Where the f**k is Ezekiel Elliott ?!!!” One fan asked rather strongly.
“Where is Zeke.”
“Where tf is Zeke,” wrote one Cowboys fan.
“Where the hell is Zeke?” wrote another fan on X.

However, just like their last outing, the running back was subbed in later on in the game. With his introduction, the Cowboys had a fantastic scoring opportunity in the third quarter. A wayward throw from Dak Prescott meant that it was squandered.

“That Dak miss to Zeke cost the TD,” wrote one fan.
“We have to blame Dak a little. We should have 8 more points if he hits CeeDee earlier and Zeke there,” wrote another fan.

Ezekiel Elliott opens up on splitting snaps

The veteran Ezekiel Elliott has to share the snaps with the 26-year-old Rico Dowdle. Coach Mike McCarthy employed this strategy in last week’s win and this week’s loss as well. The three-time Pro Bowler spoke to the press on this new way of playing for him after last week’s victory.

"I think it turned out really well. I think it will continue that same way,” said Elliott. “It probably got a little tough in that second half when we couldn't really get much going. I think I was on the field in the third quarter for maybe like two or three plays, but that's just how the game went.”

Last week, it was Elliott who started the game and Dowdle came in the third quarter. This week it was reversed.

While the fans have made their call on wanting to see Zeke be the starter, only time will tell whether HC McCarthy will tweak his tactics for the upcoming games.
