On Friday, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes' wife, Brittany Mahomes, responded to the backlash she received after liking an Instagram post by Donald Trump about his election campaign nearly 10 days ago. In an Instagram story, Brittany condemned the "haters" for expressing their negativity, but a certain section of fans continued to take issue with the budding controversy.

On X, some users pointed out that they would begin loathing the Chiefs in the upcoming NFL season after Brittany defended her actions with an IG statement.

"Alright Chiefs hate agenda back on the table please save us Lamar," one tweeted.
"The chiefs are quickly becoming the most hated," tweeted another.
"From the bottom of my heart, the Chiefs team just gotta stop. This entire offseason has been drama after drama," tweeted a third.

Another fan posted that Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift's relationship is the "only thing" saving the Chiefs from being perceived as complete "villains."

"I am of the belief that the only thing that's keeping the Chiefs from being full on villains entering this upcoming season, is Travis Kelce's relationship with Taylor Swift. When that ends, IF IT ENDS, all bets are off," tweeted another.

Some fans also suggested that pop icon Swift would take action against Brittany.

"Don’t worry, Brittany Mahomes will get a reality check when Taylor Swift doesn’t let her in the booth at games anymore," tweeted another.
"Taylor won’t like this," a user tweeted.

In her Instagram story on Friday, Britanny Mahomes penned a scathing message for those who criticized her for liking Donald Trump's campaign platform post.

"To be a hater as an adult, you have to have some deep-rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood," Brittany's story read. "There's no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others doing well."

As per reports, Brittany has since removed her "like" from Trump's post and even unfollowed him on Instagram.

Amid the controversy, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs have finished their preseason. The reigning Super Bowl champions will begin their regular season against the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 5, as they look to achieve a historic three-peat in the upcoming season.
