Justin Fields or Baker Mayfield or Jared Goff: Week 4 Fantasy Football Start 'Em Sit 'Em projections

Week 3 was fun for exactly two of the quarterbacks in this headline and there's no prizes for guessing who was left out.

Jared Goff finally showed a little spark, completing 18 of his 23 passes for 199 yards and two touchdowns (and an interception) as the Lions' wrapped up a neat 20-13 win over the Arizona Cardinals while Justin Fields continued his spotless start to the season to take the Steelers to 3-0 and top of the AFC North standings. But Baker Mayfield's dream start to the season was abruptly halted when the Denver Broncos tramped the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 26-7. Mayfield was among the top 2 WRs heading into Week 3 but what does Week 4 hold in store for all three quarterbacks?

Justin Fields fantasy outlook

Look, Russell Wilson fans are going to have to ask themselves a very real question this week - Will he get the starting job back from Fields once he's healthy enough to line up under center?

Head coach Mike Tomlin made it clear that he will not announce a starting QB1 unless he's had the chance to evaluate a healthy Russell Wilson but a 3-0 record in a busy AFC North speaks otherwise. Fields started the season a little slow but passed for a season-high 245 yards in Week 3 including a touchdown. He rushed for another touchdown to register 18.4 fantasy points. It's that rushing ability we are a little high on, especially considering he will face Indianapolis, Dallas and Las Vegas next - three defenses who have struggled to lock things up. If you're lucky, Fields will still be available as a waiver wire pickup right now so if you need some help at quarterback, be sure to swoop for the former Bears star.

Jared Goff fantasy projection

Goff has not had the best of starts so far but is there room for optimism going forward? Yes, the Lions have two wins in three, and yes, he threw for 199 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday but he also took two sacks against Arizona. Entering Week 4, Goff has thrown more interceptions than touchdowns (4-to-3).

The Lions offense is also leaning a bit towards a 50-50 share between throwing and running the ball. The famed Goff to LaPorta connection we saw last year just hasn't manifested itself so far.

The Lions face the Seahawks next and Seattle has given up the fourth-fewest fantasy points to a QB through three weeks of football. It's not a matchup we like but Goff has the weapons to get things going this week.

Baker Mayfield fantasy projection

Mayfield being sacked seven times by the Broncos probably wasn't on your bingo card but that wasn't even the worst part. He connected with WR Chris Godwin on the Bucs' only touchdown on a night where Tampa Bay really struggled to make a mark.

We probably should have expected some regression (we did) for both Mayfield and Derek Carr. Both the Saints and the Buccaneers were handed losses in Week 3 and Tampa Bay's Week 4 matchup doesn't get any prettier considering they will go up against an Eagles unit that just picked up a narrow win over - you guessed it - the Saints. There's a lot to like about this Saints offense, especially with Bucky Irving emerging as a reliable running back but Week 4 doesn't look like Mayfield's best opportunity to be back in the top-2 fantasy QBs conversation.

Sportskeeda's Who Should I Start analyzer is highest on Goff this week despite a tough matchup, fantasy-wise. The tool predicts a return of 17.8 points for Goff, as opposed to 14.8 points for Fields (still a strong return if you're picking him off the waiver wire) and 14.4 points for Mayfield against a tough Philly defense.
