Following his full participation in Wednesday's practice without being labeled as injured, Kansas City Chiefs veteran wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster appeared on the injury report on Thursday with a hamstring issue.

Smith-Schuster was the team's top receiver against the New Orleans Saints prior to the team's bye in Week 5. However, he was only able to participate in a limited capacity in practice on Thursday.

Midweek injuries are never a strong indicator of availability, but it's better not to jump to any conclusion on JuJu Smith-Schuster's chances of suiting up in Week 7 yet.

The severity of Smith-Schuster's hamstring issue is unknown, but when the Chiefs disclose their injury report on Friday, we will have more information.

This season, the team's banged-up wide receiver group has already seen Hollywood Brown placed on injured reserve due to a shoulder ailment and Rashee Rice sustaining a campaign-ending injury to his knee.

When the Chiefs play the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7, if Smith-Schuster is sidelined, Skyy Moore or Mecole Hardman will need to step up into a much bigger role, except if the Chiefs decide to elevate Justyn Ross or Nikko Remigio from the practice squad.

JuJu Smith-Schuster injury update: What happened to the Chiefs WR?

The Kansas City Chiefs were on a bye last week, so they didn't play against any team in Week 6. However, wideout JuJu Smith-Schuster popped up on the team’s injury report with a hamstring issue on Thursday after being a full practice participant a day before.

The location, mode and severity of Smith-Schuster's injury are still unknown.

Smith-Schuster getting one limited classification in practice does not automatically mean he won't play for the Chiefs on Sunday against the 49ers in San Francisco, but considering his lengthy history of injuries, an appearance on the injury report for him is concerning.

Having said that, it's important to keep in mind that a player may be labeled as limited during practice if they take one fewer snap than usual. Whatever the situation, once the team publishes its injury report for Friday, we will be able to determine the status of the 27-year-old wide receiver for Week 7.

JuJu Smith-Schuster completed seven catches from eight targets for 130 yards in the Chiefs' Week 5 26-13 victory over the New Orleans Saints.
