After leaving the second quarter of the Seattle Seahawks game, San Francisco 49ers running back Jordan Mason has been dealt promising news. The Niners have avoided the worst-case scenario regarding Mason, who stepped up to replace starter Christian McCaffrey as his injury issues continue.

Besides extending their dominance over the Seahawks in six games, joining them at the top of the NFC West standings and returning to winning ways, the 49ers have more reasons to celebrate, or at least to not feel bad.

Jordan Mason injury update

ESPN insider Adam Schefter says that coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed that Jordan Mason didn't suffer a serious injury. The running back picked up an AC joint sprain to his shoulder, making him a day-to-day ahead of the Niners' Week 7 game against their Super Bowl LVIII opponent, the Kansas City Chiefs.

Mason left the game in the first half and never returned to the field, although he was seen on the sidelines with the rest of the team. He carried the ball nine times for a 73-yard production in the 49ers' 36-24 victory over the Seahawks.

Mason is having a remarkable season, posting 114 rushing attempts for 609 yards and three touchdowns. He has caught eight passes for 75 passing yards, doing a pretty good job while Christian McCaffrey remains sidelined.

Who would replace Jordan Mason if he's inactive against the Chiefs?

Losing Jordan Mason for even one game would be a big blow for the 49ers. However, the positive note for the team is that they seem to be a running-back factory. Isaac Guerendo stepped in when Jordan Mason left the game and had a terrific night, carrying the ball 10 times and finishing the night with 99 rushing yards.

Besides Guerendo, Brock Purdy (four carries for 19 yards), Patrick Taylor Sr. (five carries for 16 yards) and Deebo Samuel (four carries for 15 yards) also participated in the team's rushing game.

The Niners tied the record at 3-3 and are now at the top of the NFC West standings alongside the Seahawks. They will have a complex schedule from this week until Dec. 8, starting with their next matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Dallas Cowboys, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Seahawks again, Packers and Bills will be their next opponents until the second week of December when they will see an intriguing Chicago Bears team that's still trying to find its identity.
