The Chicago Bears will be among the first teams to conclude their preseason schedule as the NFL preseason draws to a close this weekend. The third and final preseason game for Chicago will take place on the road on Thursday against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Matt Eberflus confirmed that the starters won't be in action on Thursday. This means that key players like quarterback Caleb Williams and wide receiver DJ Moore won't be in the starting lineup at Arrowhead Stadium.

Moore recorded 96 catches for 1,364 yards and eight touchdowns last season, marking a career year for the receiver. He will likely be the leader of the Bears' overhauled receiving group, which also includes rookie Rome Odunze and Pro Bowler Keenan Allen.

Eberflus disclosed that the choice of whether or not to play the key players during the preseason was made weekly.

"It was an open-ending plan. That shows adaptability in terms of the veterans,” Eberflus said.

The starting lineup for the team will have three weeks to recuperate and get ready before facing the Tennessee Titans in Week 1 on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at 1:00 PM ET at Soldier Field.

According to Eberflus, he has three key objectives for DJ Moore and the rest of the first team offense and defense during that period: maintain fundamentals, stay fit, and stay in shape.

Moore will need to concentrate on maintaining his physical condition while mentally preparing for the opening week of the regular season.

How to watch the Chiefs vs. Bears preseason game?
