Is Deshaun Watson playing today? Latest on Browns QB ahead of Week 2 vs. Jaguars

Deshaun Watson has been the talk of the town for the Cleveland Browns this week. The quarterback was allegedly connected to a new sexual assault by a woman who filed a lawsuit against Watson on Monday.

Although Watson's attorney denied the allegations, there were questions on whether the signal-caller will play against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2 on Sunday.

Is Deshaun Watson playing today?

Deshaun Watson will play against the Jaguars on Sunday. The quarterback is listed as active and will be available for selection for the Browns in Week 2.

Cleveland coach Kevin Stefanski spoke to the media on Wednesday and confirmed that Watson will play against Jacksonville after the signal-caller denied the allegations against him.

"Regarding Deshaun's legal situation, we put out a statement yesterday," Stefanski said. "I won't have much to add past that statement. We'll let due process play out."

Watson played in the Browns' Week 1 loss against the Dallas Cowboys. However, he struggled most of the contest, completing 24 of 45 passes for 169 yards and one touchdown. He also threw two interceptions in the Browns' 33-17 defeat.

Now, Watson will want to lead the Browns to their first win of the season on Sunday.

Watson, who previously spent five seasons with the Houston Texans, signed for the Browns in 2022. However, in his first season at Cleveland, the three-time Pro Bowl quarterback served an 11-game suspension after more than 20 women accused him of sexual misconduct.
