The New York Jets and wide receiver Allen Lazard began the 2024 season with a 32-19 defeat to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1. However, the team recovered in Week 2 to win its first game of the year against the Tennessee Titans, 24-17. In Week 3, New York will lock horns with the New England Patriots on Thursday night.

Lazard, who joined the Jets from the Green Bay Packers last season, didn't live up to expectations in his first year in New York. However, he did get off to a great start this season, as seen by his six receptions for 89 yards and two scores in the Week 1 loss to the Niners.

If given the chance, Allen Lazard should have a successful comeback season this year, especially given quarterback Aaron Rodgers' return to fitness.

Is Allen Lazard playing today?

Allen Lazard has not been included on the New York Jets' injury report ahead of the game tonight, indicating that he has fully participated in practice and is expected to suit up against the New England Patriots.

Linebacker Jermaine Johnson, who has been officially declared out for the season with an Achilles tear, is the only player on the Jets' injury report who has been ruled out for Week 3. After leaving last weekend’s game with a toe injury, veteran linebacker CJ Mosley is also listed as questionable to play in Week 3. He has missed three days of practice in a row, according to the injury report.

Lazard was outstanding for the Jets in Week 1. The veteran wide receiver ended with six catches on nine targets for 86 yards and two touchdowns, even though they lost to the Niners in that game. But against the Tennessee Titans in Week 2, he wasn't quite as effective, collecting just two catches on four targets for 11 yards and no touchdowns.

Even though Garrett Wilson is this New York Jets offense's obvious WR1, Allen Lazard is still expected to be the No. 2 receiver when they play the Patriots tonight. He should continue to get a decent number of targets until Mike Williams can show that his ACL injury from last season is fully healed.
