The New York Jets needed some Aaron Rodgers Hail Mary magic late in the first half of their Monday Night Football clash against AFC East division rivals Buffalo Bills and the veteran quarterback obliged.

On the final play of the second quarter, the 40-year-old evaded the Bills' pass rush and bought time for his receivers to get downfield before uncorking a beautiful 52-yard throw into the endzone.

Buffalo's defensive backs had seemingly done enough to ensure that wide receiver Allen Lazard did not come down with the catch. However, one of the officials in the endzone ruled that the 28-year-old had managed to snag the ball between three Bills defenders and hit the ground with full control.

While the Jets' players celebrated and the Bills' defenders watched in disbelief, replays confirmed that Lazard had caught the ball and managed to come down with it.

How many Hail Marys has Aaron Rodgers thrown?

Aaron Rodgers' latest Hail Mary heroics was the fourth time in his career that he has managed to pull off a miraculous throw when his team needed it the most.

He did it three times with the Green Bay Packers, including twice in the playoffs, and once with the Jets on Monday night against the Bills.

Revisiting Aaron Rodgers' Hail Mary throws in his career

Aaron Rodgers' first career Hail Mary pass came against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field in Week 13 of the 2015 NFL season. The Packers were trailing by two points, were well out of field goal range, and had no time on the game clock, leaving them at the mercy of their quarterback throwing a 61-yard touchdown pass.

Rodgers evaded multiple Lions pass rushers before using all his strength to give his receivers a chance to catch the ball. As the ball sharply dipped downwards, tight end Richard Rodgers timed his jump to perfection and caught the pass for a game-winning touchdown. The play was later dubbed the "Miracle of Motown."

A month later, Rodgers pulled another rabbit out of his hat late in the final seconds of his team's divisional-round game against the Arizona Cardinals at the State Farm Stadium.

With his team trailing by seven, Rodgers took the snap, rolled to his left, and uncorked a pass from 41 yards out into the endzone, where it was seemingly destined to get picked off by Patrick Peterson or Rashad Johnson. Instead, wide receiver Jeff Janis came down with the football to keep the Packers alive.

Right before the Hail Mary, Janis and Rodgers combined for another game-saving 4th-and-20 completion. Unfortunately, their heroics were undone by Larry Fitzgerald and Carson Palmer's magic in overtime.

Rodgers' last Hail Mary touchdown before the game on Monday against the Bills came in the Packers' blowout win over the New York Giants in the Wildcard Round of the 2016 playoffs. Late in the second half on a freezing cold evening at Lambeau Field, the Packers had six seconds and no timeouts and were too far out to try a field goal.

They relied on their superstar quarterback to pull off another miracle and he delivered as he threw a pass deep into the endzone which some found its way into wide receiver Randall Cobb's hands for a 42-yard touchdown. Rodgers' fourth Hail Mary touchdown against the Bills extends his own record for most in NFL history.
