Joe Mixon and Tank Dell are two of the most important players on the Houston Texans roster. Their offense works so much better with them both on the field, which didn't happen against the Minnesota Vikings, as Mixon was out, on Sunday.

Ahead of the Jacksonville Jaguars matchup this weekend, the Texans might face some issues without two of their best offensive players. It's time to take a look at where the Texans stand regarding Dell and Mixon's availability.

The Texans returned to practice today following a humbling 34-7 defeat against the Vikings in Week 3 of the 2024 NFL season. Despite a solid 2-0 start, the Sam Darnold-led Vikings were on a mission and dominated the game from start to finish.

Reporter Aaron Wilson notes that Joe Mixon (ankle), Tank Dell (ribs, hand-wrist), and Dameon Pierce (hamstring) were not practicing at the start of Wednesday's session. Out of the three, Pierce is reportedly close to returning to action, Wilson adds.

Speaking on this injury, DeMeco Ryans said that injuries are unpredictable, adding that the second-year wide receiver is day-to-day. As for Mixon, he remains week-by-week.

Mixon had a terrific start to his stint with the Texans, rushing for 184 yards and a score in two games. Dell has recorded nine receptions for 99 yards on 17 targets, although he's yet to score his first touchdown of the season.

What happened to Houston Texans Joe Mixon, Tank Dell?

Joe Mixon missed the Week 3 game against the Vikings due to an ankle injury. Although he avoided a season-ending injury, the former Cincinnati Bengals running back could miss some more time. In the meantime, Cam Akers and the returning Pierce will fill in for Mixon.

As for Dell, he got injured during the Vikings game after catching five passes for 62 yards in the late moments of the lopsided road loss. Initially, there were no concerns about a long-term issue, but not seeing him at practice could be a sign that something bigger is happening.

If you're a fantasy manager, it may be better to stay away from these two, as Mixon hasn't been given the green light to return. Dell, on the other hand, could return to practice this week, but missing Wednesday's session could be a sign that he won't be fully healthy against the Jaguars.
