Streaming defenses is a popular strategy in fantasy football, but picking the wrong one can make or break your scoring week. In Week 4, we gave you the Denver Broncos as our top streamer of the week, and it proved to be a great option last week. The NFL is a week-to-week business with new matchups to exploit and avoid to maximize our weekly point total.

At Sportskeeda, we'll take you through the best weekly defensive streaming options, plus give you an overview of how the top defenses rank heading into the new fantasy week. For streamers, we consider all defenses under the 70% threshold in ESPN and Yahoo! Sports leagues.

1] Houston Texans at New England Patriots

ESPN 21% | Yahoo! 42% | FAAB Range 1%

The Texans' defense will welcome Drake Maye into the NFL as the rookie will debut professionally in New England this Sunday. Maye will replace veteran Jacoby Brissett, one of the worst quarterbacks in fantasy football this season. Brissett only trails Bryce Young in fantasy points per game for quarterbacks (7.8), 31st in passing yards per game (138.6), and 31st in passing yards per attempt (5.1).

Whether this was the plan to accumulate Maye or New England head coach Jerod Mayo wanted to spark the offense, it's the perfect time to have the Houston defense. It'll be interesting if Maye gets the same type of protection Brissett got in the first five games. The Patriots offensive line has allowed the third most sacks (17), dead-last in pressure rate allowed (43.4%), and 31st in QB hits (42).

Mayo has decided to throw Maye into the fire for his first career start, as Houston's defense has turned in some stout numbers in the passing and running game. Up front, The Texans have a pressure rate that ranks fifth in the league (35.8%), which has resulted in the sixth most sacks (15) and a clean pocket rate that ranks fifth (60.5%). DeMeco Ryan's squad has put pressure on the quarterback without blitzing and leaving its coverage vulnerable - a stable of a Robert Saleh defensive scheme from his days in San Francisco.

Houston ranks 15th in blitz rate at 28.4 of its defensive snaps. The secondary has been doing its part by allowing the best completions percentage against (51.7%), the fifth-least passing yards allowed (867), the fourth-best passing yards per attempt (5.9), and the fifth-most passes broken up (22). If you're deciding which defense to stream this weekend, secure Ryan's unit against a rookie quarterback making his NFL debut.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Cleveland Browns

ESPN 35% | Yahoo! 40% | FAAB Range 1%

This Sunday, Philadelphia will return to action to one of the best defensive matchups in fantasy football. The Eagles were off in Week 5, as they were one of four teams to take the first set of scheduled byes. Cleveland has been one of the most generous offenses weekly and continued that trend last week against Washington. Quarterback Deshaun Watson has been a target of scrutiny for the Browns, but this unit has struggled as a team.

Up front, Cleveland has allowed the most sacks (26), most QB hits (59), worst clean pocket rate (51.1%), and second-most pressure rate (42.6%) through five games. Without consistent play with its offensive line, it is unsurprising that Watson ranks last in passing yards per attempt (4.8), 27th in completion percentage (60.2%), and 22nd in fantasy points per game for quarterbacks (13.4). The rushing game has yet to contribute much help as it ranks 24th in rushing yards (483), 27th in explosive runs of 10-plus yards (12), and only two rushing touchdowns all season.

Philadelphia's defense had a game to forget against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 4. Quarterback Baker Mayfield torched them with 30 completions for 347 passing yards and two touchdowns. It may have contributed to the Eagles being on the waiver wire in the first place, but overall, Philadelphia has been a decent pass defense this season.

The Eagles' secondary has been strong with the fifth-best completion percentage against (59.5%), 10th-best passing yards allowed (990), and third in passes broken up (24). Philadelphia needs to find improvement on the defensive front as the Eagles rank 27th in pressure rate (23.9%), 28th in clean pocket rate (75%), and 31st in sacks (6).

With one of the worst offensive lines in football, it could be what Philadelphia needs to get the pass rush going. As long as Watson continues struggling this year, we will target him for streaming defense every week. Fire up Philadelphia as one of the best options in Week 6.

Indianapolis Colts at Tennessee Titans

ESPN 11% | Yahoo! 17% | FAAB Range 1%

Indianapolis has been a defensive unit sharp fantasy managers typically attack this season. The Colts have allowed the fourth-most passing yards (1,402), the fifth-best completion percentage (71.7%), and the second-most rushing yards (785) through five games. With its star defensive tackle, DeForest Buckner, on injured reserve, it was hard to find a decent stat to support the reasoning behind starting such a struggling defense this year.

OK, I eventually found three reasons: the Colts have 9th most sacks this season (12) and the fourth-best yards before contact to running backs (1.5). However, the third and best reason for considering the Colts as a legitimate option is that Will Levis is trending toward playing in Week 6.

Levis has been one of the best quarterbacks to target in fantasy football, as he leads the league with six interceptions despite only playing in three complete games and one quarter in Week 4. Levis is 29th in fantasy points per game for quarterbacks (9.3), 29th in passing yards per game (151), and 28th in yards per attempt this season (6.2).

The Titans offensive line has struggled to protect the second-year quarterback as it has allowed the third-most pressure rate (36.3%), fifth-most sacks (15), and ninth-most QB hits (26). Can the Colts get to Levis in this contest? The Titans have the second-worst clean pocket rate at 52.2% in four games. You might have to shield your eyes if you whiffed on the Philadelphia or Houston defenses. I hope the box score works in your favor.
